The weekend before school started in early August we headed for the hills and some cooler weather for a little camping trip.
We don’t have a big tent but recently my grandparents gave us their 4 man tent so now we have a 2 man and a 4 man which is perfect for us. Chloe and Sam are not the best sleepers, especially on the road so they needed to be separated. I can’t believe I slept in a tent alone, I must be growing up! Never mind, I wasn’t alone, I had Chloe and Belle in there to protect me, and Sterling was only a few feet away. The night was terrible long for everyone, but we had low expectations so we weren’t disappointed. The kids loved playing in the tents and the older two were very good. Sterling and I both heard a terrible mountain lion screaming sound in the wee hours of the morning several times. It was enough to wake you from a dead sleep, although I don’t think it was super close. Eeek, after that I passed the time laying there thinking that camping in a trailer or RV would be just the ticket.
The next morning Stelring, Max and Chloe were able to sleep in. I got bored of waiting around so I tried my hand at my first fire. Sterling is a mast fire maker so I had been watching. I am glad he wasn’t there to see this process though. It got going pretty big for awhile and then we let it die down and cooked some bicuits and sausages on sticks and the big guys were able to enjoy a hot(ish) breakfast when they woke up.
These two are our early risers!
Poor boys DID NOT want to leave. We will do it again soon.
